BIAW Legislative Director Andrea Smiley joined hundreds of Washingtonians in voicing opposition to Puget Sound Energy’s proposed rate increase before Washington’s Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC).

Based on an analysis by the Attorney General's Office, average customers could see electric bills increase roughly $606 per year and gas bills increase roughly $264 per year by 2029 compared with current rates.

At an in-person public hearing last week, Smiley testified both as a consumer and as BIAW’s spokesperson, urging the UTC to reject the private utility’s most recent rate increase and put customers first.
